Assignments In Micro

Case Study: African Illness

In Microbiology lecture, we had to use our knowledge of microorganisms and carry out information for a case study. My partner and I studied many different microorganisms until we narrowed down the one that had to be causing the problem. We created a PowerPoint presentation that was presented to the class and also a report that had to be written up.

Brief Overview: Robert

™There was a 51 year old man named Robert. He had explored the African safari recently. He received frequent bug bites and consumed unfamiliar meats and other food. His symptoms included: ™suffering from fever, headache, vomiting, diarrhea, weakness. What parasite was Robert faced with? We concluded that he had been bit by tsetse fly. There were many different methods of treatment for Robert so he would be okay! On the right there are the links to our PowerPoint presentation and our written report on the case study.

THE UNKNOWN!

Unknown Bacteria: Enterobacter aerogenes and Bacillus megaterium

This assignment was something that many of us struggled with in class. It was the identification of the two unknown bacteria we received in Microbiology Lab. This was so hard for many of us because they were in the same dish. We had to use all the tests we have done throughout the whole semester in order to figure out our two microorganisms. It was pretty fun for me because I got better at the different techniques we did. These techniques include: gram staining, biochemical tests, and many streak plates. I have all pictures of these procedures and a link to my lab report has also been attached to the right.
