Hello
My name is Cydney Peebles from Raleigh, North Carolina. I am a senior at the wonderful Winston-Salem State University. On May 18, 2018, I will be receiving my Bachelor of Science in Biology. Here at this university I had the opportunity to be apart of the Tri Beta Beta Biological Honors Society and the Simon Green Atkins Scholar Society. I was also an undergraduate teacher assistant, along with being a legacy leader.

In the summer of 2018, I plan on applying to dental school, in August of 2019. I will then be graduating from dental school in May of 2023, with my DDS or, Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. I hope to help those who are underprivileged and eventually open up multiple dentist offices around North Carolina.
I have to send my very best to all the professors that have helped me along the way. Some have really motivated me to remain as hard-working as possible and I really appreciate them!
More About My 4 Year Experience
Simon Green Atkins Scholar Society

When I first came into Winston-Salem State University, I knew this as the honors program. So many things have changed since Fall of 2014 in this program. I met some friends freshmen year that I know I will keep forever. I also became the person I am today because of this program. I enjoyed doing volunteer hours and it also motivated me to make sure I kept my grades up at all times. It is always good to have people around you with the same goals and mind-sets.
Legacy Leader

I got the awesome opportunity to be a legacy leader for the last two years of my college experience. I think this was the best because we got the chance, as upperclassmen, to help freshmen have a smooth transition into their new college life. We also got the chance to show them the way things are and tell some of our own experiences, as far as how we adjusted and how they can and will do the same! I enjoyed being a legacy leader because I think I really made a positive impact on many that came across me. We also had an archway ceremony and were apart of it with the freshmen. So in reality, I had three archway ceremonies and loved them all.
Undergraduate Teaching Assistant

I also got the wonderful chance to work with Dr. Allen and two of her General Biology 2 classes for the year of 2017. I was a teaching assistant. This was something that was kind of out of my comfort zone but when I thought about it, I had been doing these same skills for years. It made me learn a lot about myself, how I learn, and others and how they learn. It did not make me want to become a teacher, as some may have hoped, but it did teach me the importance of helping others who are in need. It also showed me that I can do it regardless if I am a teaching assistant or not, and regardless the class or who my peers may be.
MED Program At Chapel Hill: Summer of 2017

This program was really everything to me. It taught me a lot of different things not only academically but also how to depend on my peers and let my peers be dependent on me during hard times. I met so many people and we still keep in touch today. I also made friends with them and have lifelong connections with is not all, most. I also got the chance to see behind the scenes of dentistry, working in dental lab, at Durham Technical Community College, as another one of the courses I took during this program. This program was really one of the hardest things I ever had to do but it helped me in the long run. It made me a better person and a better student and I wouldn't trade my MED family for the world.
